Kofler wins by tiny margin

Austrian Andreas Kofler won the first competition in Engelberg with a great performance especially in the second round. With jumps on 131 m and 136.5 m (272.6 points) Kofler won with the tiny margin of 0.1 points ahead of Kamil Stoch of Poland (132.5 m and 134 m) and his teammate Gregor Schlierenzauer (134 m und 132 m; 268.1 points).

Second win this season for Sara Takanashi

In an exciting competition in Ramsau am Dachstein Japanese Sara Takanashi could capture her second win this season. In the final competition of the year 2012 she won ahead of Coline Mattel of France and Daniela iraschko of Austria. So the same three athletes were on the podium as last weekend in Sochi.

Peter Prevc wins qualification

Slovene Peter Prevc was the best in the first qualification in Engelberg. With a jump on 131.5 m (140.4 points) Prevc won ahead of Norwegian Tom Hilde, who jumped on 140 m (139.6 points) under perfect conditions, and Jaka Hvala, also of Slovenia (125.5 m; 135 points).

Alissa Johnson wins qualification in Ramsau

The best three in the qualification for the final ladies' competition in the year 2012 in Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT) were two Americans and one Slovene. Alissa Johnson won ahead of her teammate Jessica Jerome and Spela Rogelj.

A shaky throne

Frankly speaking, it's very probable that the Austrian jumpers will win the Nation's Cup of the of the overall ski jumping World Cup for the ninth time in a row. The team around Gregor Schlierenzauer, Thomas Morgenstern, Andi Kofler and Martin Koch is extremely strong again this winter. But, that's already obvious after the first three weekends this season, for the first time in eight years they are not in a league of their own.

Sochi 2014 completes successful test events

A weekend full of sports in Sochi ended on December 9th with two ski jumping competitions in the RusSki Gorki Ski Jumping Center and the figure skating events in the Iceberg-Arena. All services were tested with regard to the Olympic modus in participation of more than 500 representatives of the organizing committee.

Schlierenzauer wins Olympic test

Matti Nykaenen has to start worrying about his record. The legendary Finn won 46 World Cup competitions. At the test for the Olympic in Sochi 2014, Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer took the win - it was his 42nd. Sarah Hendrickson celebrates win in Sochi

After the opener in Lillehammer the ladies now travelled to Sochi, a new and very interesting location, for the second World Cup weekend. At the site of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games, last season's overall World Cup winner American Sarah Hendrickson was on top of the podium in the first of two individual competitions. Sara Takanashi of Japan and Anette Sagen of Norway came in second and third. So the same athletes were on the podium as in the first event in Lillehammer.

Second win this season for Severin Freund

Germany's Severin Freund captured the Yellow Bib again with a convincing competition in Kuusamo, Finland. In an exciting event Freund benefited from a bad jump of Slovenian Jaka Hvala, who was in the lead after the first round, but landed already after 97 m in the final.

Germany wins close team competition

With a strong performance the team of heach coach Werner Schuster won the first team competition of the season. But they had to fight against the also strong Austrians and Slovenes until the very last jump. The outstanding athlete in the German team: Only 17-year-old shooting star Andreas Wellinger.

Gregor Schlierenzauer wins large hill event

After a competition under great conditions on Saturday, also the conditions were perfect again for athletes and spectators on third day of competition in Lillehammer. After the conditions were not really easy for the qualification and the mixed team competition on Friday with heavy rain and wind, the weather in Lillehammer was a lot better for today's individual competition on the normal hill. Victory for Sara Takanashi

After the victory of the Norwegian team in front of their home crowd, Japanese Sara Takanashi stood on top of the podium in the individual competition in Lillehammer and crowned herself the first World cup winner of the new season. The second and third place went to last year's overall World Cup champion Sarah Hendrickson (USA) and local hero Anette Sagen (NOR).
