A weekend full of sports in Sochi ended on December 9th with two ski jumping competitions in the RusSki Gorki Ski Jumping Center and the figure skating events in the Iceberg-Arena. All services were tested with regard to the Olympic modus in participation of more than 500 representatives of the organizing committee.

The men's and ladies' World Cup ski jumping competitions were the first international events on this level on Russian soil. And because women's ski jumping will have its Olympic premiere in 2014, these test events on the normal hill in Sochi were especially important to the female athletes.

Participants and spectators of the events were able to assess the efforts of the more than 500 represantatives of the Sochi 2014 OC, who were testing all imporant functions of the future Olympic venue. In expectation of the ticket sales for the Olympic and Paralympic Games starting in February 2013, the committee completed a first testing phase for the new ticket-system.

The FIS ski jumping World Cup was considered an international debut at which the ladies were able to test the K95-hill for the first time together with the men. Despite sometimes difficult weather conditions the organizers proved their willingness to carry out the events. Based on the "Sochi 2014: Snow guaranteed"-program the organizing committee used 4500 cubic meters of snow for the facility that were stored in a depot near the hill year.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, president of the organizing committee said: "The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee together with Russian and international federations have successfully hosted the first major international competitions. We managed to hold test events in "Olympic mode", in difficult weather conditions, and test dozens of different services involved in the preparation and hosting of such large-scale events. Snow in February in Sochi is guaranteed, but in case of warm weather, we have prepared a backup plan: we are storing snow from the previous season to use at the venues. During the World Cup in ski jumping, we successfully tested the system. Also, the first test of the ticketing program successfully took place: a total of 25,000 people visited the ISU Grand Prix Final."

Sarah Hendrickson (USA), last season's overall World Cup winner, enjoyed her trip to Sochi and was happy about her win the in the test event for the Olympic Games: "I really enjoyed jumping on this hill. It's simply great to win a World Cup at the site of the next Winter Games." Also Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT), who also celebrated a win on the facility in Sochi, agreed: "The level at this World Cup in Sochi was really high. The hill is very interesting and of course it's always good to gain some experiences on the future Olympic hill."
