Jaka Hvala is the new Junior World Champion

The ski jumpers had their first chance to show their skills at the Junior World Championships in Liberec with the individual competition on Thursday. With Jaka Hvala from Slovenia, one of the top favorites celebrated a clear win and captured the Junior World Championship title. Poland's Klemens Muranka was second, followed by Austrian Stefan Kraft as third.

Sara Takanashi defends title at Junior Worlds

Three days after the official opening ceremony of the Junior World Championships it got serious for the ladies in Liberec for the first time. In an exciting competition, Japanese Sara Takanashi defended her title from last year and crowned herself Junior World Champion. Evelyn Insam from Italy and Katja Pozun from Slovenia took the silver and bronze medal.

COC-M: Fettner and Koch ahead again

The Continental Cup weekend in Bischofshofen was more than successful for the host from Austria. Like already on Saturday, the two veterans Manuel Fettner and Martin Koch were also the best in the second competition there.

Jan Matura wins difficult competition

The Okurayama-hill in Sapporo once again lived up to its reputation when it comes to unpredictable weather conditions. The weather changed from one minute to the next on the second day of competition in Sapporo. There was everything from blue skies to heavy snowfall, in combination with winds from different directions. The sometimes very heavy snowfall caused various interruptions and some famous names failed to make the cut for the final round.

COC-M: Two Austrians on top

Two weeks after the final event of the 4-Hills-Tournament the ski jumpers came to Bischofshofen again. This weekend two Continentalcups take place on the Paul-Ausserleitner-hill. In the first competition two well-known names captured a double-victory for the Austrian hosts.

First win in the World Cup for Jan Matura

Jan Matura was the sensational winner of the first competition in Sapporo. The 32-year-old Czech achieved his first ever World Cup win ahead of Tom Hilde and Robert Kranjec. So far the 4th place achieved in the winter 2010/2011 in Sapporo was his career best. The 32-year-old of Liberec showed a great performance today with 132 m and 135 m and could celebrate a well-deserved win with a total of 249.5 points.

The long Continental Cup weekend in Sapporo ended on Sunday with the second competition on the large hill. And in the three competition in Japan, there were three different winners. After Gregor Deschwanden and Felix Schoft, Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell stood on top of the podium this time.

Two Norwegians on top in Zakopane

After a very bad seventh place in Friday's team competition in Zakopane, the Norwegian team of head coach Alexander Stoeckl fought back with an impressive double victory today. Anders Jacobsen as firth (128.5 m and 131.5 m; 273.3 points) and Anders Bardal as second (132.5 m and 132 m; 271.6 points) rocked the sold out (25 000 spectators) Wielka Krokiew Arena in Zakopane. Local hero Kamil Stoch (133 m and 127 m; 268.7 points) achieved a highly acclaimed third place.

Win for Sarah Hendrickson

After Schonach last weekend the German week in the ladies' World Cup continues in Hinterzarten now. The first of two competitions was won by US American and last season's overall World Cup winner Sarah Hendrickson, ahead of Sara Takanashi of Japan and Coline Mattel of France.

After the first competition on Friday was held on the normal hill, Saturday's and Sunday's events will take placeon the large hill in Sapporo. The win on Saturday went to Gregor Deschwanden, follwed by Ole Marius Ingvaldsen and Felix Schoft.

Slovenia wins exciting team competition

The 15 000 who came to the Wielka Krokiew hill in Zakopane this evening saw an exciting team competition. The very last jumps decided about the first and second place in a duel on a high level under difficult conditions. The opponents in the battle for today's win were, unexpectedly, not Austria, Norway and Germany, but Slovenia and Poland.

First win this season for Anders Bardal

Norwegian Anders Bardal won the first World Cup competition in Wisla, Poland. Last season's overall World Cup winner celebrated his first win this season. Richard Freitag of Germany and Bardal's teamamte Rune Velta came in second and third in front of 10 000 enthusiastic Polish fans. 4-Hills-Tournament winner and overall World Cup leader Gregor Schlierenzauer could not take part because of a cold.

Gregor Schlierenzauer wins 4-Hills-Tournament

Excitement until the end! That's how a major sports event should be: The decision in the duel between Gregor Schlierenzauer and Anders Jacobsen was open until the final jump. Jacobsen put a lot of pressure on the Austrian with his second jump on 139 m. But Schlierenzauer did great himself. 137.5 m in the final round were enough for the Austrian to win the competition, the overall title and his 45th World Cup event.
