Daniela Iraschko from Austria suffered a serious knee injury due to her fall on the first day of competition in Hinterzarten. This means that the season is over for her.
Iraschko fell after the landing of her jump in the first round and was taken to the hospital in Neustadt for a first medical check. She then returned home to Innsbruck on the same evening where an ACL rupture and a meniscus injury in her left knee were diagnosed.
On Sunday morning Iraschko underwent surgery what was done by Dr. Christian Hoser in Hochrum. "According to the circumstances I am feeling quite okay. But there are a lot of things I have to work on during the upcoming weeks and months", the 29-year-old said. "Of course this season is over for me. Probably I will be able to start training at the end of summer and get well prepared for the Olympic Games next year." Iraschko needs to take a break of approximately six months.
