COC-M: Fettner and Koch ahead again

opprettet på: 22.01.2013 17:04 / km

The Continental Cup weekend in Bischofshofen was more than successful for the host from Austria. Like already on Saturday, the two veterans Manuel Fettner and Martin Koch were also the best in the second competition there.

After his two week break due to an injury, Fettner also dominated on Sunday and took the win with the longest jump in both rounds on 135.5 m and 130 m and his total of 259.4 points.

"It was a great weekend. I jumped well at the 4-Hills and this wasn't a long time ago. So I actually would have been surprised if I wouldn't have been jumping well here. It's even better that it went that well. Maybe the break wasn't too bad. I think I'm already in a better shape now than at the 4-Hills", said Fettner.

Martin Koch, who competes in the COC to get in a good shape for the upcoming ski flying events in the World Cup, secured the next double victory for the Austrians with 128.5 m and 125.5 m (234.7 points).

"I was jumping well here, even if I still made some small mistakes. That also explaines that I was pretty far behind Manuel, who jumped really strong. The conditions and the hill here in Bischofshofen were perfect. It was a great preparation for the ski flying events. I'm already curious about how it will be with the new suits and how I'll be able to handle it", told Koch.

News: Two Austrians on top »

Two athletes, who could show a big improvement in the second round, came in behind the two top spots. Czech Cestmir Kozisek, twelfth after the first round, jumped on 129.5 m in the final, finished third with this performance (232.3 points) and was on podium in the COC for the first time in his career.

A similar performance was shown by Stephan Leyhe of Germay. With also 129.5 m in the second round he moved up from 14th to four, his best result so far this season.

Like already on the day before, Jan Ziobro, who came in fifth, was the best of the Polish team. He was followed by jumpers from Germany and Austria with Marinus Kraus (6.), Andreas Strolz (7.), Felix Schoft (8.) and Lukas Mueller (9.).

The two Germans Marinus Kraus and Felix Schoft were on their way to achieve a podium result after the first round, but with their weaker second jumps they lost the chance to finish among the best today.

Vegard Swensen was the best of the Norwegians as tenth.

With his eighth place Felix Schoft now took the lead in the overall ranking of the COC with 359 points. Stefan Kraft is now second (345 points), Ole Marius Ingvaldsen is still third (310 points).
