COC-M: Second win in Sapporo for Stjernen

The "Super Weekend" of the Continental Cup with three competitions in Sapporo ended on Sunday like it began on Friday: With a victory of Andreas Stjernen.

 

The 23-year-old moved up to the top spot from the fourth place after the first round with 125 m in the final and clearly captured his second victory this weekend with a total of 244.1 points.

Local hero Kento Sakuyama came in second with 122 m and 123 m and 232.5 points. For him this was the best result of his career in the COC.

 

After the first round it looked as if it would be the day of the Slovenes, Tomaz Naglic was leading ahead of Robert Hrgota and Primoz Pikl. But only Hrgota was able to almost defend his position and finished third with 223.5 points (128.5 m and 111 m). Tomaz Naglic was tenth at the end, Primoz Pikl only 13th.

 

Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell from Norway was fourth, followed by the winner of Saturday's competition, Germany's Felix Schoft.

 

The best of the Austrian team was Manuel Fettner as sixth, ahead of Canadian Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, who could achieve another very good result after his third place on Friday.

Andreas Stjernen now also took the lead in the overall ranking of the COC with 637 points. Michael Hayboeck follows as second (542 points), Kenneth Gangnes is third (473 points).
