Austrian Manuel Fettner won the Continental Cup competition in Titisee-Neustadt. With two great jumps on 138 m and 133.5 m he reached a total of 269.8 points. He was followed by Stefan Hula from Poland (265.6 points) and Norwegian Robert Johansson with 256.3 points.
"It feels like jumping in front of a home crowd," a happy Fettner says after the competiton. "I like to come here but I remember that at my first victory twelve years ago, I jumped even further. But I am very satisfied. I know that it's not easy to win in Continental-Cup and this helps me for my World Cup aspirations in the Austrian team." Runner-up Stefan Hula is also very satisfied with his performance: "Today, everything worked out quite well for me. I am happy about my second place. Maybe I will be able to repeat this tomorrow or even make a win."
After the first round Fettner was already in the lead ahead of Stefan Hula and Andraz Pograjc from Slovenia. Pograjc's teammate Tomaz Naglic and 138.5 m and Robert Johansson from Norway with 140 m showed strong jumps in the second round. With the longest jump of the day Johansson secured his place on the podium and moved up nine places.
"This was a fantastic day, my first podium in a COC-competition", Johansson raves. "It was great fun, especially because I was able to land the longest jump of the whole competition. We have a very strong team in Norway and now I have to repeat this performance to be promoted to the World Cup."
The local heroes from Germany couldn't show convincing performances already in the first round. Their best was Felix Schoft as eleventh. Nine could not qualify for the final round. And they could also not improve their performance in the final round in front of the home crowd. At the end Stephan Leyhe was the best German as 14th.
