Sabrina Windmueller won a windy competition of the Ladies' World Cup in Hinterzarten. The Swiss was declared the winner after only one round. It was her first victory in the World Cup.
The competition in the Black Forest took place under difficult conditions with heavy snowfall and wind so the jury decided to cancel the final round after eight jumpers. "I had a good feeling and of course I'm happy that we could have this competition here in Hinterzarten", said the 24-year-old. "For me it's not a big difference if it's a Continental Cup or a World Cup, accept from the media attention of course", she told.
Van back after injury - and second already
Windmueller jumped exactly 100 m and reached a total of 114.7 points. American Lindsay Van showed a jump on 94 m and finished second with 113.9 points. "I'm very satisfied with my jump and the result. I didn't have any expectations because I had an ankle surgery in October and I was sick last month. I'm happy that I could finally compete in the World Cup", said Van.
Italian Lisa Demetz was third with 110.7 points. "For me there is definitely a difference between a COC and the World Cup. All the media attention and the TV cameras make a huge difference for me. I definitely had a lot of fun", Demetz described her day.
Maja Vtic from Slovenia finished fourth, ahead of the best German Svenja Wuerth. Sarah Hendrickson, who won the first World Cup competition in Lillehammer, was ninth this time.
Hendrickson still in the lead
Hendrickson remains in the lead of the overall World Cup with 129 points, French Coline Mattel, who was seventh today, is second (116 points).
