While the ladies' World Cup is taking a little break right now, two ladies' Continental Cup competitions are held in Oberwiesenthal (GER) this weekend. 41 athletes of ten nations were taking part on Saturday and Ema Klinec of Slovenia was the best. The second place went to Michaela Dolezelova of the Czech Republic, followed by Germany's Juliane Seyfarth.
After she already attracted some attention with good performances in the World Cup, Slovene Ema Klinec also showed the best performance in the training in Oberwiesenthal the day before. With the longest jump in both training rounds she was clearly better than the competition. So she was considered one of the top favorites for today's competition and lived up to this role with 102.5 m and 102 m. She won with a total of 251.5 points.
Michaela Dolezelova of the Czech Republic came in second with jumps on 98.5 m and 92.5 m and 225.0 points. After the first round Dolezelova was already second and she defended this position also in the final round.
Good news for Germany was the performance of Juliane Seyfarth, who finished third in today's competition. She presented herself in a good shape already in training and also showed a good performance in the competition. 93 m and 94 m and 219.5 points were enough for the young German to finish on the podium.
Germany and Russia dominate Top 10
Russian Irina Avvakumova, who achieved a good result at the World Championships last week, missed the podium. She was followed by the three Germans Pauline Hessler, Ramona Straub and Melanie Faisst on the places five to seven. So the German team had the most athletes among the best ten today. Also Russia was well represented in today's Top 10, because also Anastasiya Gladysheva and Sofya Tikhonova achieved top results as eighth and ninth. Swiss Sabrina Windmueller, who could not qualify for the World Championships, completed the Top 10.
It was not such a good day for the Austrian team with Katharina Keil, Sonja Schoitsch, Lisa Wiegele, Michaela Kranzl and Cornelia Roider. Kranzl and Roider could not qualify for the final round, Katharina Keil was their best as 17th. Xinyue Chang of the Chinese team of head coach Jochen Danneberg, achieved another good result as 12th and could score some points in the Continental Cup.
