The athletes use basically the same equipment in summer and winter. 

The jumping-hill has to be set up for the use during summer. It is necessary to have an inrun-track made out of, for example, synthetic material or ceramic and to cover the landing area with plastic mats.

The inrun track has to be watered constantly and also the mats in the landing and outrun area must be watered regularly in order to similar gliding characteristics as snow in winter. 

Because of these mats ski jumping became an all-year-round sport and athletes have perfect training conditions not only in winter.

Competitions are also carried on plastic. Since 1994 there is also some sort of a "Summer World Cup" with the Sommer Grand Prix.
