The jumping suit has recently become a decisive part of the equipment. To ensure equal opportunities the size, design and thickness of the fabric was limited.
All portions of the ski jumping suit must be made of the same material and must show the same air permeability from the outside in and from the inside out.The Ski Jumping suit must be closed by means of a zipper that is centered vertically in the middle of the front part of the suit and must reach over the collar bone by minimum 1.5 cm, and maximum 5 cm. The zipper must be completely closed. The minimum distance from the lower end of the zipper and the crotch seam is 10 cm.
The jumping suit must in all places and parts be tight-fitting the athlete’s body. The measurements of the suit must conform the measurement of the body in an up- right position with a tolerance of at least 1 cm in addition and a maximum of 3 cm to the body at any part of the suit (For Ladies at least 2 cm in addition and a maximum of 4 cm). An exception is the part around the boot: the jumping suit can be maximally 10 cm larger (beginning at the knee) than the value which is measured around the jumping shoe and must cover the boot.
Maximal difference in air permeability of the material measured at any part of a jumping suit is 12 liters, which is the same from the outside in and from the inside out.
Additional restrictions are for example:
- The thickness of the suit may not exeed 6 mm, nor be less than 4 mm.
- The collar can end with an elastic seam band
- Outer tucks and darts, folds and padding are not allowed.
- Only one fixed (non-adjustable) strap per leg is allowed for fixing the suit around the ski boot.
- Length of the sleeve must reach the wrist joint
- Number of parts of the material of which the suit consists is limitated
