After his crash in Bischofshofen, where he sustained a severe spine injury, Nick Fairall can rely on the help of the international ski jumping family.
In order to cover the high medical costs for treatments and therapy, an online fundraising campaign was set up last week. Already in the first few days donations were given from all over the world and so the goal of raising $ 25 000,- is within reach already. (Link:Nick Fairall Rehabilitation Fund)
At the World Cup in Zakopane the German team, with Severin Freund, Richard Freitag, Marinus Kraus and Michael Neumayer, announced that they will donate their prize money of CHF 30 000,- for winning Saturday's team competition to the American.
In addition, € 8 243,- were donated by teams and officials in Zakopane.
Fortuna wants to sell medal
Wojciech Fortuna, Olympic Champion of 1972, also wants to help Nick Fairall. The Pole is willing to sell his Gold medal in order to raise money under the condition that the 25-year-old will get all the money and the buyer donates the medal to the Museum of Sports and Tourism in Warsaw.
„I want to sell the medal for 50 000 Dollars. I have looked at it long enough, now it's better to help the American jumper. America helped me and now I want to help an American“, Fortuna said on katowickisport.pl.
