Surprisingly, Germany won silver with 1625.2 points. Andreas Wank, Richard Freitag, Maximilian Mechler and Severin Freund showed a consistent performance and captured the medal clearly ahead of Slovenia. After the individual title of Robert kranjec on Saturday the Slovenian team crowned a perfect weekend at the Championships.
Perfect championships for Slovenia
Besides Kranjec, especially Jurij Tepes showed a great performance. Jernej Damjan improved his shape and Jure Sinkovec had consistent jumps and so the team of head coach Goran Janus won the bronze medal with 1580.4 points. If Peter Prevc would not have suffered the injury last weekend maybe even more would have been possible. But the ski flying World Championships were perfect anyway for the Slovenes.

"We showed good jumps and then Richie set a new German record. It can't be any better than this. I think we can be very satisfied", Andreas Wank said.

Disappointment for Norway
The hosts and favorites from Norway finished only on the fourth place. With almost 40 points behind Slovenia they clearly missed the podium. Veteran Bjoern Einar Romoeren didn't have his best day and could not score many points for his team. Rune Velta, who won silver in the individual competition, showed a great performance and an outstanding jump on 243 m. Anders Bardal jumped consistent and Anders Fannemel could not meet the high expectations - so it was only enough for the fourth place.

Finally it was a competition under good and fair conditions with sunshine and mild temperatures. And so more than 20 000 fans at the Vikersundbakken saw some great, spectacular ski flying. Freitag, for example, set a new national record with 230 m, Daiki Ito even jumped on 240 m - the longest jump ever of a Japanese athlete. But it didn't go that well for the Air Nippon - they came in fifth.

The Czech Republic was sixth, ahead of Poland. Finland came in eighth. Anssi Koivuranta could not do well, otherwise more would have been possible for the team.
Evensen still world record holder - No jumps over 250 m mark
Good news also for Johan Remen Evensen: The Norwegian who retired a couple of days before the Championships is still the world record holder after four days of ski flying on the world's largest hill. No athlete could land beyond is 246.5 m. His teammate Anders Fannemel got the closest with 244.5 m on Saturday.
