Marinus Kraus of Germany won the first Continental Cup competition of the weekend on the normal hill in Liberec (CZE) and celebrated his first win this winter.
The 22-year-old of the skiclub WSV Oberaudorf laid the foundation for this success already in the first round with the longest jump of the day on 103 m. With 94.5 m in the final and a total of 265.5 points he then defend the top position.
Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell of Norway showed jumps on 102 m and 94 m and came in second with 261.5 points.
Matic Kramarsic, only eleventh after the first round with 97.5 m, posted a great jump on 98 m in the final and with this performance he moved up to third overall.
Also the two Poles Lukasz Rutkowski and Krzysztof Mietus could improve their position in the final round. After the first half of the competition they were 12th and 13th, at the end they missed the podium closely as fourth and fifth.
Norwegian Atle Pedersen Roensen was on his way to a podium result with a 101 m jump in the first round, at the end he came in sixth and shared this place with Rok Justin of Slovenia.
The two best Austrians in the competition were Manuel Poppinger and Andreas Strolz as eighth and ninth. Behind them, yet another Norwegian achieved a Top 10 result with Fredrik Bjerkeengen as tenth.
Slovenia's Matic Benedik leads in the overall ranking with 651 points, followed by Atle Pedersen Roensen (646 points) and Andraz Pograjc (583 points).
