The second Continental Cup competition this weekend in Wisla (POL) ended with a win of Norwegian Atle Pedersen Roensen. The other two spots on the podium went to Matic Benedik and Jan Ziobro.
In the first round on the Adam-Malysz-hill, Atle Pedersen Roensen showed a jump on 124.5 m and was fourth. With 129 m in the final and a total of 251.1 points the 24-year-old moved up to the top of the podium. This performance earned him his first win this winter. "We had two nice days here, the weather and the conditions were stable. It was a good weekend for me", told the winner.
Matic Benedik of Slovenia could repeat his very good second place of the first event on Saturday with jumps on 124.5 m and 127.5 m (251.1 points).
Local hero Jan Ziobro was sixth after the first round with 124.5 m, with his second jump on 126.5 m and 247.8 points overall he achieved a podium result for the hosts of Poland in this competition. "It was a good weekend for me with a sixth and a third place. The conditions were more difficult than yesterday, the wind changed a bit. But this didn't affect the results that much."
Germany's Karl Geiger was in the lead after the first round. The 20-year-old, who already gained some attention in the World Cup this winter, could not keep up with the best with his 122.5 m in the final and came in fourth. Close behind Geiger, his teammate Danny Queck finished fifth.
Best Austrian was Michael Hayboeck, who was a member of the Austrian World Cup team until the World Championships, as sixth. Matic Kramarsic and Nejc Dezman finished seventh and eighth and completed yet another strong result of the Slovenian team.
Lukas Mueller of Austria, who moved up from 25th to ninth with a very good second jump, and Krzysztof Biegun of Poland could also achieve a Top 10 result today.
The longest jump of the day was shown by Norwegian Ole Marius Ingvaldsen with 130.5 m in the second round, but he fell and came in only eleventh.
With Sunday's result, Matic Benedik now took the lead in the overall ranking with 651 points, followed by Atle Pedersen Roensen (606 points) and Andraz Pograjc (583 points), who could not compete in Wisla due to an ankle injury.
