COC-M: Wolfgang Loitzl dominates in Klingenthal

And just like in the last three competitions of the COC the winner was Wolfgang Loitzl. The 32-year-old Austrian dominated on Saturday evening with the longest jumps in both rounds on 129.5 m and 130 m and his total of 248.6 points.

 

With this success Loitzl secured his place in the Top 3 of the COC overall ranking and therefore a spot in the Austrian team at the World Cup opening late November.

Lauri Asikainen came in second with 125.5 m and 127.5 m (230.9 points). With this performance the 23-year-old Finn can celebrate his first podium result in the Continental Cup.

 

Jan Matura was tenth after the first round with his jump on 119.5 m, with 128 m in the final (222.0 points) the Czech could move up to third overall.

 

Youngster Cene Prevc of Slovenia reached a total of 220.5 points, finished fourth and missed the podium only by small margin. Behind him, the best Pole, Jan Ziobro, and the best Norwgian, Ole Marius Ingvaldsen, shared the fifth place. 

 

Best of the hosting team from Germany was 19-year-old Karl Geiger of Oberstdorf as seventh, followed by the next Norwegian, Fredrik Bjerkeengen (8th). Ronan Lamy Chappuis of France and Germany's Georg Spaeth, 16th and 18th after the first round, jumped on 128 m and 127.5 m in the final and moved up to the Top 10. 

 

Before the final COC competition of the summer on Sunday, Jan Matura has already won the overall title. He leads with 692 points ahead of Wolfgang Loitzl (580 points) and Anders Jacobsen (478 points).
