A main reason for his decision to end his career that early were health problems the 26-year-old had because he tried to further reduce his bodyweight. "I could have kept on starving, but my body said: Mr. Evensen, enough is enough." After a few months break, returning to the hills might be of interest to him.
"I dream of coming back"
"I dream of coming back. But at first my body has to work again, then everything is possible", Evensen told the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.
In the time since his retirement Johan Remen Evensen built a house and also got various job offers of TV channels. According to Dagbladet he wants to keep all the doors open at the moment, also for a possible comeback in ski jumping like his former teammate Anders Jacobsen.

If he would return to competitive sports again, he would do it with full dedication. "If I try a comeback, I'll do with dedication. Then it'll be about jumping as far as possible again. For that the body has to work 100 %."
Even if he decides not to start a comeback, he might get involved in Norwegian ski jumping again. "Johan knows a lot and we could benefit from that. But it all depends on his motivation", sport director Clas Brede Brathen said on dagbladet.no.
