Will Sarah and Sara fight for the victory?

opprettet på: 02.03.2012 12:32 / km

With 96.5 m, 98.5 m and 98 m in the three training rounds at the Ladies' World Cup in Zao, Junior World Champion and Youth Olympic Champion Sara Takanashi showed an impressive performance. The 15-year-old athlete of the Kamikawa Junior High School proved on Friday that she is the one to beat in her own country, ahead of already many media representatives.

The inrun gate was lowered after all of her jumps, so it's difficult to compare it with the competition. The 94.5 m, 94 m and 96.5 m of World Cup leader Sarah Hendrickson (USA), who was second three times, were also a good performance. The 17-year-old from Park City is especially motivated for the duel with Takanashi - she lost at the Junior World Championships about a week ago. Hendrickson: "This is already history. Takanashi's victory was well-deserved, she was jumping great. Zao is a different story, I don't want to compare it or speak about revenge."

But Hendrickson will also look at the overall World Cup. If she can finish ahead of Daniela Iraschko (87m/4.; 86m/9.; 93m/4.) in both competitions on Saturday resp. keep most of her 211 point lead, then she achieved something historical - win the first ever overall World Cup title in women's ski jumping. "There are still 400 points up in air, so I can't lose focus", Hendrickson told. And Iraschko added: "I only focus on my jumps, whatever happens, happens. Sarah is jumping consistently strong this winter, she will probably win it. And I hope I can do so in 2013."

With a jump on 96.5 m in the third round, Ulrike Graessler showed her ambition to fight for a place on the podium in the overall World Cup. The jumper from Klingenthal is currently sharing the third place with Lindsey Van (93m/4. in the third round). "But we can also not forget Katja Pozun or Anette Sagen, they also have a good chance and a lot can happen in four competitions", said Graessler.

So it will be exciting, and there will be lots of media interest. 115 journalists and reporters are accredited. 16 national and regional TV stations will be there to broadcast. The opening press conference on Friday was held in a "sold-out" room.
