The Slovenes are still on the last lane with their young jumpers. At the World Junior Championships in Erzurum (TUR) they won Gold and Silver. New World Champion is Nejc Dezman, who won with 286.5 m ahead of his teammate Jaka Hvala and Poland’s Aleksander Zniszczol (both 280.5 points).

Zniszczol already gained some experience in the World Cup this season. 19-year-old Champion Dezman took part in the ski flying in Bad Mitterndorf in January. ""I was in a good shape when I came to Erzurum. It’s always a big pressure when you are competing in World Championships, but I was able to handle that.”

With Klemens Muranka (6th) Poland had a second jumper in the Top 10. For Slovenia three jumpers were among the best ten, Anze Lanisek finished 9th. “Of course I am happy about winning the silver medal. It was also some extra motivation that Adam Malysz came here together with our team", said Zniszczol.

"I didn’t expect to win a medal today because I did not do very well in the training rounds. I like the fact that the hill was prepared by Slovenians because we all know each other and so I am having some more friends with me during the days in Erzurum", told Hvala.

16-year-old Norwegian Philip Sjoeen was fourth and missed the podium by 4.5 points. But still: Sjoeen is a big talent in Norwegian ski jumping. Three Austrians landed in the Top 10, but none of them could win a medal. Lukas Mueller was fifth, Christoph Stauder and Stefan Kraft shared the seventh place.

For the German team the competition was a disappointment. Stephan Leyhe, who made his debut in the World Cup in Willingen, was their best as 15th. It didn’t go much better for Japan. Their best jumper was Reruhi Shimizu as 13th. The best Finn was Jarkko Maeaettae as 19th. Pascal Sommer was the best Swiss as 17th.

Defending champion Vladimir Zografski was struggeling with his shape recently and did not take part in Turkei. The team competitions for men and ladies will be held on Saturday.
