Sara Takanashi defeated the favorite Sarah Hendrickson at the World Junior Championships in Erzurum and captured the title. The only 15-year-old Japanese won in Turkey with 276.5 points clearly ahead of the World Cup leader Hendrickson. The 17-year-old American reached a total of 265.0 points.

Takanashi showed the longest jump in both rounds on the Kiremitlik-Tepe-hill with 108.5 m and 107.5 m. "I'm so happy. You never know what happens during a competition. It is my first time here in Erzurum and because of that jumping on this hill was absolutely new to me. But I like that hill and also the atmosphere has been amazing today."

"After the bad jumps in training, I'm happy that the competition went so well. We are at the end of a long season and it's easy to jump well all the time", said Hendrickson. "I felt a lot of pressure."

The bronze medal went to 20-year-old German Carina Vogt (255.5 points), who is not in the Top 20 of the World Cup. "These were my last Junior World Championships, so I'm extremely satisfied that I could win a medal."
