Only about six weeks after his horrible fall at the 4-Hills-Tournament in Oberstdorf, where he fractured a vertebrae, the 24-year old made his comeback. And what a great comeback!
Richard Freitag
He returned to the World Cup circuit today and was already the best in the qualification for the competition in Klingenthal. He jumped on 136.5 m and reached 132.2 points. With this performance he won ahead of Slovene Peter Prevc, who is getting stronger and stronger. Prevc showed a jump on 140 m for 129.6 points.
Romoeren gets in shape for Vikersund
Japanese Taku Takeuchi, who is in a good shape for weeks now, was third, ahead of Lukas Hlava of the Czech Republic and Anders Fannemel of Norway. Jurij Tepes of Slovenia landed on a good sixth place on his 23rd birthday.

Bjoern Einar Romoeren is still fighting for his place on the team for the ski flying World Championships in Vikersund. And the better the young jumpers get, the better the 30-year-old is jumping. On Tuesday he was seventh in the qualification. Olli Muotka was eighth and raised some hopes for the Finnish team.
Freitag extremely strong on "his" hill
Of the pre-qualified athletes, Severin Freund and local hero Richard Freitag showed very good performances. Freitag jumped on 143 m on his home hill, although the inrun length was reduced various times. Gregor Schlierenzauer, Andreas Kofler and Anders Bardal jumped around 130 m. Daiki Ito and Robert Kranjec landed on 137.5 m and 137 m from a higher inrun gate.
Hautamaeki and Janda out
Matti Hautamaeki is still not in shape this season. The Finnish veteran could not qualify for Wednesday's competition (6:00 pm CET live on FISskijumping.com). Surprisingly also Czech veteran Jakub Janda failed to make the cut.
Vegard Haukoe Sklett, one of the Norwegian shooting stars this season, had problems caused by a gust of win, could avoid a fall but could also not qualify for the competition.
