After ski jumping was not possible at the Continental Cup in Iron Mountain (USA) on Friday and Saturday due to the strong wind, at least one competition could be held on Sunday.
But that this also not go without problems. Because the still strong wind many breaks were neccessary and so the first round with 45 participants took about three hours.
Marinus Kraus captured the clear victory under these difficult conditions with jumps on 142.5 m and 133.5 m and a total of 292.3 points. The German celebrated his first win in the COC a day before his 21st birthday.

"It was a hard and long competition day in a great atmoshpere. I'm so happy that I had two good jumps and made my first COC victory happen. I really hope to come back next year to jump on this nice hill for those thousands of crowds", said Kraus.
With 138.5 m in the final round, Markus Eisenbichler moved up from fifth to second place (266.5 points) and secured the double victory for the German team.
The third place went to Norwegian Robert Johansson with 135 m and 125 m (257.0 points).
Rok Urbanc from Slovenia finished fourth and achieved by the far the best result this winter, he was followed by second-best Norwegian Ole Marius Ingvaldsen (5th), his teammate Tomaz Naglic (6th) and Jakub Kot from Poland (7th).
After the first round also the hosting team had chances to achieve a podium result: Peter Frenette was second at half time. But with only 114 m in the second round he finished eighth.
The two Slovenes Ziga Mandl (9th) and Mitja Meznar (10th) completed the Top 10 on a long day in Iron Mountain.
Nothing changed in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup. Michael Hayboeck (687 points) still leads ahead of Andreas Stjernen (637 points) and Kenneth Gangnes (473 points).
