Severin Freund

"Finally we have a chance again to show our positive development at home", said German head coach Werner Schuster. "At the FIS Team Tour we want to present ourselves as the main opponent of Austria. Since the beginning of the season we fight for the second place in the Nation's Cup against Norway. We want to use the home ground advantage in the next competitions to get ahead of the Norwegians again."

Richard Freitag will take part for the first time, he doesn't know the hill in Willingen yet. "My teammates told me a lot about the fantastic atmosphere in Willingen and I'm excited to jump on this very large hill. My shape is good and I feel fit. The team spirit is most important for us. The atmosphere is very good and we are all looking forward to this intense week of ski jumping", he said.

Many teams with chances

The rules of the FIS Team Tour are simple. A team competition will be held in Willingen and in Oberstdorf. The points of these events are added up. Then there are three individual competitions in Willingen, Klingenthal and on the ski flying hill in Oberstdorf. The points of the two best athletes of a team count for the overall ranking.

And because many nations have two good jumpers on their team, many nations have a chance to win the prize money and send their best athletes. The fans can look forward to exciting competitions with the world's best jumpers. Last year Severin Freund celebrated a home victory.

The FIS Team Tour was held for the first time in 2009. The first edition was won by the Norwegians, the next two times the € 100 000 went to Austria. It all starts on Friday at 6:00 pm CET with the qualification in Willingen. Of course you can follow it via the live ticker on FISskijumping.com
