Norwegian national title for Anders Bardal

opprettet på: 09.02.2012 12:20 / km

Top favorite Anders Bardal won the Norwegian national title on Tuesday in Trondheim with an inofficial hill record jump. With a total of 288.2 points he won ahead of Bjoern Einar Romoeren (278.1 points) and Anders Fannemel (262.2 points).

After the first round Bjoern Einar Romoeren was in the lead with a 136.5 m jump ahead of Anders Bardal and Anders Fannemel, who won a COC last weekend. Bardal jumped on 140.5 m, but was behind Romoeren because of lower judges' points.

Unbelievable jump on 146 m

In the second round he then set a new inofficial hill record with 146 m (hill records only count when set in international competitions) and so captured a well-deserved national championship title.

"It's always nice to win competitions, but here at home it's something special", Bardal, who jumps for the Team Tronderhopp, said to Norwegian TV channel NRK.

Jacobsen: Comeback among the best

Anders Jacobsen had a great comeback in Trondheim after his long break. With two good jumps on 126 m and 133.5 m and a total of 254.3 points he finished sixth and proved that he might still be one of the contestants for a place on the team for the ski flying World Championships in Vikersund.

"Bardal is currently jumping on a level that we don't see often here in Norway", Clas Brede Brathen, sports director of the Norwegian Ski Association, praised his best jumper. But he was also satisfied with the rest of the field. "There are also many young jumpers who showed a very good performance and that's a good sign for ski jumping in Norway. There were national championships where so many young athletes did well and I would say that the future of ski jumping in Norway looks bright", Brathen said on norwegianskijumping.com.

A total of 47 Norwegian jumpers took part on the Granaasen HS 140-facility, also the nordic combined skiers Tommy Schmid, Harvard Klementsen and Thomas Kjelbotn joined the field.
