Manuel Fettner took the win in the second Continental Cup competition in Titisee-Neustadt in the Black Forest. The Austrian showed two strong jumps of 136 and 133.5 meters which meant 264.6 points and rank one in the overall result. The other two spots on the podium went to Antonin Hajek from the Czech Republic (249.8) and Andreas Stjernen from Norway (245.2).
"I am very satisfied with my double victory. It's the first time in my career that I was able to win two Continental Cup competitions at one weekend", said the happy Austrian after his win. Runner-up Antonin Hajek from the Czech Republic was also very happy and praised the organising committee for the conditions at the hill: "You don't get to take part in such an amazing competition very often, even in the World Cup." Andreas Stjernen form Norway couldn't agree more: "The organisation was immaculate. I am very happy that I was able to experience this for myself today."
At halftime, Fettner was already leading the field, which consisted of 76 competitors, with the longest jump of the day. Jaka Hvala from Slovenia and Norwegian Andreas Stjernen followed on the ranks two and three. Fettner's teammates from Austria didn't have a very good day today. The next best Austrians after the first round were David Unterberger, Lukas Müller and Stefan Kraft who just barely able to qualify for the second round with the ranks 29 and 30 (ex aequo).
In the second round, Jaka Hvala who had claimed the second rank, had a weak jump which threw him back to a rank 22 in the overall result. The finale did also not go well for the Norwegian team which has been impressing with good results in the course of this season. After the first round, three Norwegians were among the best ten jumpers, after the second round, only Andreas Stjernen who lost his second place to Antonin Hajek and his teammate Ole Marius Ingvaldsen ranked among the Top Ten. Ingvaldsen, however, managed to improve his result from the first round from rank 24 to 10. The German local heroes David Winkler and Danny Queck made the home crowd happy with two spots among the Top Ten.
In the overall Continental Cup ranking, the absent Michael Hayböck, Kenneth Gangnes and Atle Pedersen Roensen are still in the lead but with his third rank, Andreas Stjernen managed to gain some points on his teammates and is now only two points behind Roensen on place four.
