COC-M: First win for Andraz Pograjc

After a German won the Continental Cup competition in Brotterode on Saturday ahead of two Slovenes, Andraz Pograjc took the win for Slovenian team in Sunday's competition.

The 21-year-old, who was already among the best in the first competition in Brotterode as fourth, was third after his first jump on 112 m and captured his first win in the COC with his second jump on 112 m (257.1 points).

 

"I'm happy that I could win here in Brotterode, with good weather and a great crowd. The good conditions were the foundation for my win. The wind wasn't always good, but I made the best out of it. I want to thank the organizer for the good job, it's highlight in the COC. I'm already looking forward to jumping here again next year and show some good jumps again", said Pograjc.

 

After the first round two Norwegians, Atle Pedersen Roensen and Ole Marius Ingvaldsen were in the lead but at the end they couldn't keep up with Pograjc. Roensen (115 m and 108.5 m; 245.3 points) and Ingvaldsen (114 m and 109.5 m; 253.3 points) still achieved very good results and came in second and third.

 

Anze Semenic (4th) and Matic Benedik (8th), who were both on the podium on Saturday, completed the next strong result of the team of Slovenia. 

 

Danny Queck, the winner of yesterday's event, finished fifth and was again the best German, followed by his teammate David Winkler (6th).

 

Best of the Austrians on Sunday was Andreas Strolz as seventh, best Pole was Lukasz Rutkowski. The 25-year-old of Zakopane moved up from 22nd to ninth with a very good second jump.

 

With his very good results in the recent competition and today's win, Andraz Pograjc now is the new overall leader of the Continental Cup. With 583 points he leads ahead of his teammate Anze Semenic (566 points) and Austrian Stefan Kraft (525 points).
