Sara Takanashi of Japan clearly won the first individual competition 2013 in Schonach in the Black Forest. Italian Evelyn Insam followed as second, Austrians Daniela Iraschko and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger shared the third place.

Sara Takanashi was already in the lead after the first round with the longest jump of the day on 96.5 m. She reached the same distance in the final round and defended her clear lead with a total of 242.1 points. "I'm very satisfied, I had two good jumps. It was also nice that I was able to do a telemark twice", said the happy winner.

Italian Evelyn Insam, third after the first round, who could already attract some attention with the longest jump in the qualification, could move up to the second place. With 91.5 m and 94.5 m she proved her very good shape also in the first competition in Schonach. "This was the first podium result of my career. I had two perfect jumps, I can't do much better. Tomorrow I'll try to attack again", told the Italian.

The two Austrian teammates Daniela Iraschko and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger shared the third place. With 94.5 m and 89.5 m for Iraschko and 93.5 m and 95.5 m for Seifriedsberger they both reached a total of 219.2 points. "I had a bit of bad luck with the wind and both of my jumps were a bit too late at the take-off. But all in all I'm jumping more and more stable now I have to work on the small mistakes", said Iraschko, who was second after the first round.

Lundby with Top 10 result after a fall in the qualification

The Top 3 were followed by Anette Sagen (NOR), the winner of the qualification Katja Pozun (SLO) and her teammate Maja Vtic (SLO), Carina Vogt as the best German and the two Norwegians Line Jahr and Maren Lundby. Especially remarkable was the result of Lundby, who fell in the qualification yesterday and was taken to a hospital. She didn't suffer any injuries, could take part in today's competition and achieved a Top 10 result. Not all the teammates of German Carina Vogt had a reason to celebrate today. Five of the ten German jumpers couldn't make it to the final round.

Takanashi extends overall lead

With Sarah Hendrickson (USA) and Coline Mattel (FRA) two of the top athletes were not able to show their best performances today and finished 11th and 12th. With her win Sara Takanashi extended her lead in the overall ranking where she leads with 440 points ahead of Austrian Daniela Iraschko (310 points) and French Coline Mattel (288 points).
