"This part of the facility was most important when we applied to host the World Championships. This will help to celebrate great sports moments also in the future", said the president of the Norwegian Ski Association, Erik Roeste.

Besides the now openend K60, K40 and K10 hill there will also be two mini hills in winter built out of snow. Aditionally it's also possible to train on the Midtstubakken in this center and also the famous Holmenkollen shall get covered with mats so it can also be used as a training hill.

The facility that cost 60 million Norwegian crowns (approx. 8 Million Euro) was financed by the city of Oslo, the departement of cultur and private funding. It is now owned by the city of Oslo.

Ski jumping legend Bjoern Wirkola was there for the big opening, and he is also happy about the new possibilities. "A great day for the sport of ski jumping in Norway. These hills here are only some of many facilities for the young jumpers. In the future a lack of young athletes can not be blamed on the lack of hills."

At the day of the opening about 200 children used the chance to try out the K10 and K20 hills, half of them was jumping for the first time. The ski club Kollenhopp provided the necessary equipment, skis, boots and helms. The first jumps could also be made on a K3 mini hill.
