Planica talks about 270 m
This is a statement: "2014 you can reckon with a new world record in Planica." That was said by Tomi Trbovc, spokesman of Planica, and is reported by Austrian media. In Slovenia people are dreaming about jumps of up to 270 m.
A new ski jumping center is built in Slovenia right now for about 42 million Euro for the bid of the region to host the Nordic Ski World Championships 2017. There will be seven new hills and also the ski flying hill, that lost the world record to Vikersund last year, will be reconstructed.
Record in Planica for 26 years
Bjoern Einar Romoeren' 239 m were improved to 246.5 m by Johan Remen Evensen in Norway. Before that, the inofficial world record was always set in Planica from 1985 to 2011.

This weekend the season's final will take place in the "Valley of the hills". This time not the world record will be in focus, but the fight for the overall World Cup title between Anders Bardal of Norway and Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer. And of course, The Slovenes are excited to see their new ski flying World Champion Robert Kranjec competing at home.
