КO - Система

It was carried out for the first time at the Four-Hills-Tournament 1996/97. Unlike in other World Cup competitions, where the best 30 of the first round qualify for the final round, duels of two jumpers decide who reaches the second round with the so-called KO-System.

There are also 50 competitors in the first round but to decide who reaches the final round the jumpers compete against each other in 25 pairs. These pairs are determined in the qualification. The first of the qualification jumps against the 50th, the second against the 49th and so on.

The winner of this duel then earned a spot in the second round. In addition to that, the five best losers also qualify to complete the Top 30 for the final.

This system is only used at the Four-Hills-Tournament. If no qualification can be held, there is also no K-O system at the competition.
