Bjoern Einar Romoeren had to undergo surgery in Germany Sunday evening. The Norwegian suffered a fracture of the little finger on the left hand when he hit against a wall after Saturday’s competition in Willingen. Reason was the disappointment about his performance and the 25th place.
“It was unbelievably stupid. Skijumping is not the most important thing in the world, but it means a lot to me. I let out my frustration. I wish I would not have done it, it was not very smart before such important competitions”, the world record holder said to skijumping.no.
The doctors decided to operate because they were worried that the injury might not heal properly without a surgery and so they stabilized the fracture with a little wire.
Olympics not in danger for him According to Romoeren the injury did not handicap him in the team competition on Sunday. “It will now, after the surgery, hurt for a couple of days, but it’s not a problem for the competition at the Olympic Games.” The Norwegian team will travel to Vancouver from Germany on Monday. |
