Due to the bad weather forecast, both competitions in Rovaniemi took place already on Tuesday.
The first competition in the afternoon was won by Katja Pozun from Slovenia. The 18-year-old celebrated her first victory in the Continental Cup with jumps on 87.5 m and 94.5 m and a total of 228.5 points.
Her teammate Spela Rogelj, leader after the first round, was second with 88.5 m and 93 m (224.0 points) and secured the double victory for the Slovenian team.
The third place went to young Japanese Sara Takanashi with 219.5 points (87.5 m and 92 m).
With Ursa Bogataj (4.), Maja Vtic (5.), Kaori Iwabuchi (6.) and Atsuko Tanaka (7.) also the following places went to athletes of these two teams.
Also the second competition in the evening was a duel between Slovenia and Japan.
This time the victory clearly went to only 15-year-old Sara Takanashi with 94.5 m and 92 m and 235.0 points. "In the first competition the timing was not right, that was better in the second one", said the winner who is already looking forward to the World Cup. "Lillehammer here I come!"
The other two places on the podium went to the strong Slovenian athletes. Ursa Bogataj was second with 223.5 points (94 m and 88 m). "These were my best results in the COC, but I'm well aware that many strong athletes were not here. But anyway, I'm happy and I know I can jump even better."
The third place went to Katja Pozun who showed jumps on 91.5 m and 86.5 m (221.0 points). "I didn't expect to do that well here. The difference between the first and and second competition was that I got tired after the first one. In the afternoon the victory was easy, in the evening the third place was hard."
The very strong performance of the Slovenes was completed by Spela Rogelj and Maja Vtic as fourth and fifth. "Let's hope that this wil be a great winter. The Slovenian team was very strong, but we shall not forget that there weren't that many competitors here. I could have won the first competition, but a mistake in the air cost me points."
