Bjoern Einar Romoeren is one of the most charismatic personalities in ski jumping. The Norwegian is known for spectacular flights, unforgettable is his world record jump of 239 m in Planica. Romoeren is a tough guy, he risks everything in his jumps and falls are not a set-back for the 29-year-old. In his youth he even jumped with a broken arm once.

FISskijumping: What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Bjoern-Einar Romoeren: I'm looking forward the most to the ski flying competition next season. I want to fly far. And in addition to that I want to play my part in making the competititons during the WSC at the Holmenkollen interesting.

 

FISskijumping: What has to happen that you'll be an all-around satisfied athlete at the end of the season?

Romoeren: My teammates and I have to have a lot of fun.

FISskijumping: How important are the World Championships at the famous Holmenkollen in Oslo to you?

Romoeren: That's huge, you can hardly find words for that. It's my home hill! There's nothing more to say. It'll be bigger than the Olympics.

 

FISskijumping: What convinces you that next season will be a very good one for you?

Romoeren: Everything else would be stupid. You always have to belive in yourself. You always have to believe that you can reach your goals.

Romoeren made his debut in the FIS World Cup on March 3rd, 2001 with a 35th place on the Ski Flying hill in Oberstdorf ... on January 6th, 2003, he celebrated his first World Cup victory in Bischofshofen (AUT) ... a few weeks later, he achieved his first medal at a major event: team Bronze at the Worlds in Predazzo (ITA) ... 2004, he won team Gold at the Ski Flying World Championships in Planica (SLO) ... he was third in the overall World Cup 2003/04 ... 2005 he placed third with the team at the World Championships in Oberstdorf (GER) ... on March 20th, 2005, Romoeren jumped 239 m in Planica (SLO) and set a new ski flying world record ... 2006, the Norwegian team (including Romoeren) placed third at the Torino Olympic Winter Games and won Gold at the Ski Flying Worlds in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT) ... with an overall sixth place, the 2005/06 World Cup season has been his second best so far ... 2008, he fell badly in Predazzo but did get injured and he placed third with the team at the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf (GER) ... 2010, he was runner-up in the team event at the Ski Flying World Championships in Planica (SLO) ... up to now, Romoeren has competed in 179 individual World Cup events, winning eight of them and reaching the podium 22 times ...
