It is a traditional tournament staged on the hills in Oberstdorf (GER), Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER), Innsbruck (AUT) and Bischofshofen (AUT) that was held for the first time in 1953.
The total points of a jumper in each competition count for the overall ranking. The overall victory is one of the most important and prestigious titles in international skijumping. The interest in skijumping of the public and the media is always very high during the tournament.
A special characteristics of the Tournament is also the so-called KO-System where the jumpers compete in 25 duels in the first round.
Finland’s Janne Ahonen holds the record with a total of five overall wins. In 2001/02 Sven Hannawald (GER) was the first, and up to now only, jumper who could win all four competitions.
